attestation: Dan and Angul were begotten by Humble, and founded the Danish race, ruling as governors without the title of king.

attestation: From Dan descended the pedigrees of all the Danish kings. His wife Grytha bore him two sons, Humble and Lother.
"From Dan, however, so saith antiquity; the pedigrees of our kings have flowed in glorious series, like channels from some parent spring. Grytha, a matron most highly revered among the Teutons, bore him two sons, HUMBLE and LOTHER"
