  "Gunnhilda my wife is the daughter of Bjorn and Alof, the wife whom Bjorn lawfully married. Gunnhilda is rightful heiress of Bjorn."

• attribution: Bergonund alleged Asgerdr's mother Thora was captured from Thorir's house and was an outlaw when Asgerdr was born

  "Thora Lace-hand, Asgerdr's mother, was taken captive from the house of Thorir her brother, and a second time from Brynjolf's house at Aurland."

• attestation: Bergonund remained at home while the king went to war, thinking it unsafe to leave while Egil was in the land

• attestation: Bergonund dismissed his guards and invited Frodi from Alrekstead for a great ale-drinking

  "he sent away all those men that he had had before for protection. Thereafter he rowed in to Alrekstead, and bade Frodi to his house, for he had a great ale-drinking there."

• attestation: Bergonund ran forward to hunt the supposed bear in the bushes but found Egil waiting for him instead

  "Bergonund ran forward to the bushes. He had helm and shield, a sword at his girdle, a halberd in his hand. Egil was there before him in the bushes, but no bear."
