Thorgeir Blund
Egil's sister's son who helped Thorstein at the Thing and was given Anabrekka after Steinar's banishment.
Thorgeir Blund was the sister's son of Egil Skallagrimsson, who played a notable role in legal proceedings at the Thing. He gave Thorstein substantial help in a legal suit, and afterward sought land on the Moors from father and son (Egil's Saga, Chapter 1 - Of Kveldulf and his sons. > Chapter 88 - Of Thorgeir.). Following Steinar's banishment, Thorgeir Blund was given Anabrekka (Egil's Saga, Chapter 1 - Of Kveldulf and his sons. > Chapter 88 - Of Thorgeir.).
Egil's Saga presents Thorgeir Blund in a single chapter that captures two aspects of his character: loyalty to kin and practical self-interest. His assistance to Thorstein at the Thing demonstrates his value as an ally within the family network, while his subsequent request for land -- taking advantage of Steinar's banishment to secure Anabrekka -- shows the material rewards that followed such loyalty. The saga identifies him through his maternal connection to Egil rather than through a patronymic, placing him firmly within the Skallagrimsson kinship web.
