Melion's role is that of a trusted intermediary. When Launcelot goes missing, Melion "departed from them, and said that he would tell the king, and the queen, and all the fellowship of the Round Table" what Sir Bors had reported about Launcelot's whereabouts (Le Morte d'Arthur, Book XI, Ch. X). Upon arriving at court, Melion delivers the message faithfully, telling "the king, and the queen, and all the fellowship of the Round Table, what Sir Bors had said of Sir Launcelot" (Le Morte d'Arthur, Book XI, Ch. X).
