Labor

Father of the maimed king in the Grail pre-history of Le Morte d'Arthur.

2 citations1 sources1 traditions

King Labor is attested in Le Morte d'Arthur as a figure from the Grail narrative's deep past. He was the father of the maimed king, and his realm was in Logris (Le Morte d'Arthur, Book XVII, Chapter III). A deadly war arose between King Labor and King Hurlame, a Saracen, and they assembled their folk upon the sea where the mysterious ship had arrived (Le Morte d'Arthur, Book XVII, Chapter III). The conflict between Labor and Hurlame forms part of the pre-history of the Grail sword and its dolorous consequences.
