Holt is a farmstead attested in Njal's Saga, associated with Thorgeir Craggeir and serving as a destination for characters seeking alliance and counsel during the feud cycles that follow the burning of Njal. After legal proceedings, "the day after they rode to Holt" (Njal's Saga, Ch. 146). Later, Kari and his companions "rode to Holt to Thorgeir, and told him alone these tidings, for those tidings had not yet been heard there" (Njal's Saga, Ch. 151).
