Hermind
Brother of King Hermance in Le Morte d'Arthur, herald of Palomides's arrival.
Sir Hermind is the brother of King Hermance in Le Morte d'Arthur. After his brother's death at the hands of two traitors, Hermind arrives at the Red City to announce that a knight of King Arthur's court has come to avenge the murder: "there was come a knight of King Arthur's to avenge King Hermance's death: And his name is Sir Palomides, the good knight, that for the most part he followeth the beast Glatisant" (Le Morte d'Arthur, Book X, Chapter LXIII).
When he learns the details of the situation, Hermind's response is one of dismay -- "Alas, said Sir Hermind, how may that be?" (Le Morte d'Arthur, Book X, Chapter LXIII). His role in the narrative is that of herald and mourning kinsman, bringing news of the champion while expressing the weight of the family's loss.
